A practical checklist for installing a home EV charger in an Indian apartment or gated community, including the society approvals required.
Society approvals
Most apartment installations require formal approval from the residents' association covering: location of the charger, source of power, metering, and any modifications to common electrical infrastructure. Some state EV policies specifically address society approvals; verify your state's current position.
Electrical load and metering
The most reliable configuration is a dedicated feeder with an individual meter registered to the apartment. Where that is not possible, options include a sub-meter reporting to the society, or a smart wall-box with per-user authentication and billing.
