Editorial Policy
This Editorial Policy governs every article, buying guide, ranking, calculator and review on Top10EV. It sits alongside the Review & Testing Methodology, Ranking Methodology, Sources Policy and Corrections Policy.

This page is maintained by the Top10EV editorial team. It reflects our current practices and is updated as our processes evolve.
1. Who writes our content
Editorial content is produced by the Top10EV editorial team. Where an article is written by a specific staff writer or a named external contributor, that name is shown at the top of the article. Where content is prepared by the collective editorial team, the byline is 'Top10EV Editorial'. We do not use fictitious authors, pseudonyms or fabricated personas.
2. How articles are researched
A typical Top10EV article is researched from primary sources: manufacturer websites and press materials, government notifications and gazetted rules, homologation and safety publications (ARAI, Bharat NCAP), regulatory filings, and named third-party publications. Where an article synthesises multiple sources, the material sources are cited within the article or in a Sources section at the bottom.
3. Fact-checking
Every article passes through a second-editor review before publication. The reviewer checks (a) that each numerical claim can be traced to a source cited in the article, (b) that each qualitative claim is supported by the cited source, (c) that any comparative language ('longest range', 'fastest charging') is expressly limited to the dataset it applies to and dated, and (d) that no fabricated testing or ownership claim appears.
4. Editorial independence
The editorial function operates independently of the commercial function. Advertisers, sponsors, affiliate networks, manufacturers and dealers do not have advance sight of editorial content and cannot direct its outcome. See the Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure for detail.
5. No paid rankings
Rankings on Top10EV cannot be bought. Inclusion, order and score in any Top 10 list, comparison, 'best' feature or buying guide are determined by the criteria published on the Ranking Methodology page.
6. No dealership influence
Top10EV is not a dealership and takes no commission on vehicle sales. Where a dealer has provided access, a test vehicle or hospitality relevant to a specific article, that fact is disclosed on the article.
7. Conflicts of interest
Editorial team members disclose relevant financial holdings, family employment relationships and any other conflicts before working on an article that could reasonably be affected by them. Where a conflict cannot be avoided, either (a) the article carries a disclosure at the top, or (b) the article is reassigned. External contributors are required to disclose comparable conflicts to the commissioning editor.
8. Difference between reviews and buying guides
A 'Review' is an assessment of a specific vehicle or product against defined criteria and is labelled as either research-based or based on Top10EV verified testing (see the Review & Testing Methodology). A 'Buying guide' is a decision framework covering multiple vehicles or a general topic, and typically does not turn on individual test results. A 'Comparison' places two or more vehicles side-by-side on specified fields. Each article type carries a clear label so readers know what to expect.
9. Classification of numerical figures
For every numerical figure — including range, charging time, power, torque, boot capacity, safety rating and price — Top10EV distinguishes between the following categories and labels them on the affected page: (i) manufacturer claim; (ii) certified specification published by a homologation or safety body (for example ARAI/MIDC, WLTP, Bharat NCAP, Global NCAP); (iii) independently reported figure from a named third-party publication or test; (iv) owner-reported figure; and (v) Top10EV verified testing.
10. When content is updated
We update articles when (a) a material fact changes (for example, a new manufacturer specification, price, variant or subsidy notification); (b) a factual error is identified; or (c) a scheduled re-verification cycle reaches the article. Every article shows its 'Published', 'Updated' and 'Last verified' dates.
11. Corrections
Errors are corrected as soon as they are brought to our attention or identified in re-verification. Corrections are logged on the affected article using the process set out in the Corrections Policy. We do not silently rewrite published work.
12. Generative AI
Generative AI tools are used, if at all, only to assist with drafting, summarisation or code — never as the source of a factual claim. Every factual statement in an article must trace to a human-verified primary source. Bylines represent the humans responsible for the content.
